Golf Carts, low speed vehicles, all terrain vehicles, 4 wheelers, and utility task vehicles are becoming more and more popular on or around roadways. Since they move slower than standard vehicles they are especially vulnerable to accident and collisions. Their smaller size also makes them easier to miss, much like motorcycles.
By marking Golf Carts, Low Speed Vehicles (LSV's), Utility Task Vehicles (UTV's) and All Terrain Vehicles (ATV's) with reflective tape you can minimize impacts at night thus preserving both the vehicle and whatever may impact it. In other words, a golf cart or other vehicle that can be easily seen may never have to be tested by an impact with another vehicle, bike or pedestrian. In addition to increasing general safety, marking your cart or LSV with reflective tape may be part of your city or counties regulation for making the vehicle street legal. Keep in mind that there will most likely be other requirements as well.
Many people like to use a bright prismatic reflective tape from 1" to 2" wide in a color that contrasts with the vehicle color to attract attention night and day. Others go for the brightest white tape (SOLAS 1404) since it can be seen from the farthest distance. We carry many types of reflective tape that range in price, color availability and intensity. In this article I am going to cover three recommended golf cart reflective tapes that will work for this application The three tapes are V82 Type 5 prismatic tape in colors, SOLAS 1404 Stretchable reflective tape in white (silver) only, and SAE Reflex Reflectors by Oralite.
Our ultra bright Oralite V82 Type 5 prismatic reflective tape is characterized by a mild pattern of printed diamonds on the films face. The V82 film is very bright. V82 is visible for thousands versus hundreds of feet away for standard engineer grade type films. Photometrics of Oralite V82 Type 5 tape are about 700-800 candlelas for the white and less for the colored v82 films. This tape has an incredibly strong adhesive, however, the main advantage of the V82 material is that it can be seen from farther away and is a type 5 rated film.
Our Oralite 1404 Fleible SOLAS Reflectve Tape is by far the brightest of our films and reflects at around 1000 plus candelas. It is a marine (offshore) tape and is coast guard approved. Its primary use is for offshore applications where only the brighest and toughest tape is used, however, it is also very popular for land application on vehicles, bollards, bikes and golf carts. It can be seen from very far away and is great in higher speed traffic areas where early recognition of objects is vital. One nice feature of the 1404 SOLAS is its ability to stick to fabrics like awnings, tarps and even clothing. Its pliability give it this ability.
For applications where you are trying to make a golf cart or other low speed vehicle street legal, you may want to consider our Oralite SAE Reflex Reflectors. They come in red and amber (yellow) and in 3 inch circles and in 2 inch x 3.5 inch rectangles. Amber (yellow) is for the front and Red is for the back.

Return and Order Cancellation Policy - Reflective tape orders can be cancelled until they are shipped out. After products are shipped, we accept returns in certain cases. If we have made a mistake and have shipped the wrong item, we remedy that at no cost to the customer. For returns where another item is purchased to replace an item purchased in error, we accept those with no restock fee. For all other returned items we apply a 10% restock fee.
