Grouting Your Wall Tile on a Travertine, Marble, Granite or Limestone Natural Stone Fireplace

Once your mantel, hearth, surround and wall tile have been installed, your basic fireplace surround is done. All that is needed now is to grout the fireplace and then as a final step, apply an enhancing sealer. (covered in next article)

Applying grout is not difficult nor is it time consuming. It is necessary however to be neat and clean. While the grout is wet it can be easily wiped off the stone surface but when dry this is more difficult. To apply grout, you simply mix and apply to the seams between the tile. Then you take a wet sponge and remove the residue. Make sure to choose a color that either matches the tile or that is a nice contrasting color. If you want the seams to be as invisible as possible just choose a color that is an exact match for the tile.

You will find below an index of the articles that I have put together on this subject. I have tried to cover building a granite, travertine or marble fireplace hearth, surround and mantle using a step by step approach.
