NFPA 1901 states that firetrucks and emergency vehicles shall have alternating yellow and red chevron striping applied to 50% of the rear of the vehicle. We carry reflective chevron striping in five types or grades of tape. Type 1 (bright), Type 3 (brighter),V92 Prismatic (even brighter) , V82 Type 5 (very bright) and Type 8 (brightest). All five are compliant with the NFPA 1901 standard. On this page we carry 6" rolls of the Type 8 or Crystal Grade (CRG) Tape. We carry the 6" wide tape in both 30' and 150' rolls. Our Type 8 (CRG) tape is manufactured by Nikkalite and is the brightest class of reflective tape that we carry. It is superior to other tapes due to its extreme durability and brightness. It also reflects at sharper angles than standard tapes. It is similar to our V82 only thicker and brighter. It is approximately the thickness of a guitar pick or a credit card.
The 6" material is for the downward slanting 45 degree chevrons. The stripes must alternate from red to yellow.
Nikkalite Crystal Grade Type 8 Prismatic tapes far exceed the minimum standards for chevron striping established by the NFPA. It is the toughest, brightest tape that we carry. It also carries a 10 year outdoor rating. This tape is the absolute best chevron striping available on the market today.
